Omnity is an interesting tool for content analysis. Sometimes it is called a search engine but as much as I saw there is no automatic search. You have to put in documents or captures selected text from a webpage.

Bielefeld University (9. Mai 2016): A Search Engine for Arguments

Bielefeld University leading new priority program in cooperation with universities from Bremen Duisburg-Essen, Leipzig, and Weimar

"Discussions on the Internet are hard to analyze, whether it is controversy over the trade agreement TTIP (Transatlantic Treaty and Investment Partnership between Europe and the United States), or the debate on refugees. These conversations sometimes take place over the course of years, and millions of participants may have their say. A new priority program funded by the German Research Foundation is working to shed light on this problem: starting in 2017, researchers from across Germany will work on a search engine for arguments. These technical systems will be designed to analyze, for instance, how groups such as PEGIDA, the far right, anti-Islamic movement, or anti-globalization activists, argue in online discussions. Bielefeld University is leading the program “Ratio” in cooperation with the Jacobs University Bremen, the University of Duisburg-Essen, Leipzig University, and the Bauhaus University Weimar.

The full name of the German Research Foundation’s priority program is “Robust Argumentation Machines” (adaptive, scalable, and error-tolerant argumentation systems). [...]" READ MORE

Universiteit van Amsterdam (2016, May 12): Better search engine results thanks to new method

"How does Google decide which search results to display? Doctoral candidate Anne Schuth developed a new method by which dozens or even hundreds of search algorithms can be compared with each other simultaneously. This means that the best search algorithm can be selected faster than was previously possible. Schuth will obtain his PhD from the UvA on 27 May.
A search query can turn up many webpages – often in the millions – with possible answers. Search engines such as Google are continually developing new algorithms to sort through all of those pages. In his research, Anne Schuth focused on developing methods to compare these search algorithms efficiently.
Interleaving vs. multileaving
One of the methods currently being used for this purpose is called ‘interleaving’. In this method, two algorithms are compared by displaying their search results alternately in a single list of results intended for the search engine’s user. The user, who is then unable to see where the results came from, merely clicks on the result which gives the preferred answer. With interleaving, it is possible to determine which of the two search algorithms led to the desired answer and thus to conclude which was the better algorithm. By repeating this process with millions of users, a reliable conclusion can be drawn as to the more effective algorithm. [...]" READ MORE
